It seems that Top Gun: Maverick will be more than another Tom Cruise sequel, as co-star Jon Hamm has teased that the upcoming film will use new filming technology.
During a recent interview with Cinema Blend, Jon Hamm talked about the upcoming Tom Crusie film, Top Gun: Maverick, and its technology. According to Jon Hamm, the upcoming Tom Cruise film is using technology that we have never seen before and described it as being shot in 6K. Jon Hamm went on to say that there was not a lot of CG being used in Tom Crusie’s Top Gun: Maverick with people really up in planes:
They’re using some technology on this that is never before seen. We’re shooting the movie in, I think, 6K. So it’s incredibly hi-def. The aerial footage is mind-blowing. It’s mostly practical. There’s not a lot of CG. Those guys are really up in planes and getting thrown around in multiple Gs.
Jon Hamm continued by saying that Tom Crusie’s Top Gun: Maverick will have a similar vibe to the first one while taking the story in a different direction. Jon Hamm went on to say that the footage that he had seen so far was mind-blowing:
They’ve achieved a very similar vibe to the first one. I think it’s gonna be, for the people who love the first movie I think it’s gonna be very interesting to watch. It very much takes the story in a different direction. But I think for the new fans it’s gonna be something very cool, too. I’ve seen some of the footage, it is out of this world.
From the sound of things, we’re really going to have something to look forward to in Tom Cruise’s next outing in Top Gun: Maverick!
