Josh D’Amaro will be taking over Disney’s theme park division from Bob Chapek, the company’s new CEO.

Reshuffling seems to be a constant theme in 2020 as Disney has announced a brand new exec to lead its Disney Parks, Experiences and Products division. Earlier this year, long-standing CEO Bob Iger stepped down from his role, announcing Bob Chapek  as his successor. Chapek hailed from the company’s highly profitable and innovative theme park division, but a suitable candidate was never announced as the new CEO got quick to steer the company to safety as the coronavirus pandemic began to spew across the world. Finally, and after months of speculation, Josh D’Amaro has been announced as Chapek’s successor.

Josh D’Amaro’s legacy at Disney is just as prolific as both Bob Iger and Bob Chapek. D’Amaro began his tenure at Disney in 1998 as a member of the Disneyland Resort team. Soon after, D’Amaro’s experience pushed him in a number of highly qualified positions, including numerous roles at Disney’s various Parks. Some of his work was done at Disneyland, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

In 2019, Josh D’Amaro was announced as the president of the Walt Disney World Resort. The House of Mouse’s announcement of D’Amaro taking on the company’s theme parks division seems to be the right and necessary step. We can imagine that much of D’Amaro’s job in the coming months will entail safely reopening all of the company’s parks, as they’ve been closed due to the coronavirus. We’re sure D’Amaro will be fine as he has bright leaders like Bob Chapek and Bob Iger to guide him and the rest of the division during these trying times.

Reshuffling hasn’t just been seen in the Disney boardrooms as many of its films have shifted their release dates to accommodate the coronavirus’ effects on the economy. Just recently, Disney gave the long-delayed X-Men film The New Mutants its fifth and brand new release date. As for the upcoming Marvel films, Disney has reshuffled the entire slate of the MCU, with almost all of the upcoming Phase 4 films pushed back by numerous months.
