As Wolverine casting rumors run rampant, with the X-Men shaping up to make their MCU debut, a new video makes a compelling case for Karl Urban as Hugh Jackman’s Marvel replacement.
Hugh Jackman first appeared as Wolverine in 2000’s X-Men and would go on to play the character nine times, making his final appearance in 2017’s Logan. With the film rights to the X-Men having now returned to Marvel Studios, it’s looking likely the character will be recast for the MCU.
Several names have been thrown around as potential successors to Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine legacy, with Jackman’s Eddie the Eagle co-star Taron Egerton becoming a current favorite. However, a new video shows The Boys star Karl Urban looking very at home as Logan.

The new video, shared by YouTube user “stryder HD,” utilizes deepfake software to replace Hugh Jackman in scenes from X-Men Origins: Wolverine with Karl Urban.
The altered scenes show Karl Urban, who recently starred in the third season of Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys, settling into the role of Marvel’s most iconic mutant. The video is also a testament to the capabilities of deepfake software, with Urban being added into the scenes seamlessly.

It is not yet known when Marvel will be reintroducing Wolverine. There have been calls from some fans for Hugh Jackman to return one last time in Deadpool 3 so that he can finally encounter Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool on-screen, in a film where Deadpool has been brought to life a little more faithfully than in X-Men Origins.
However, should Marvel be looking to recast the role soon, it looks like Karl Urban could be a perfect choice of actor to fill Jackman’s shoes (and claws).
Karl Urban can now be seen in The Boys Season 3. Here is the synopsis:
It’s been a year of calm. Homelander’s subdued. Butcher works for the government, supervised by Hughie of all people. But both men itch to turn this peace and quiet into blood and bone. So when The Boys learn of a mysterious Anti-Supe weapon, it sends them crashing into the Seven, starting a war, and chasing the legend of the first Superhero: Soldier Boy.
The Boys stars Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Dominique McElligott, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capon, Karen Fukuhara, Nathan Mitchell, Colby Minifie, Jensen Ackles, and Paul Reiser.
