Is Katee Sackhoff secure in her Star Wars future? The actress confirms that she will, eventually, make her return as Bo-Katan.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is shaping up to be one of the biggest Star Wars projects in history. It’s truly set to be the “who’s who” of the post-Empire franchise, with names from across the live-action and animated space set to return in the film. Yet one familiar face seems to be missing from the cast list: Katee Sackhoff’s Bo-Katan.
Bo-Katan has been a mainstay in both live-action and animated projects set around that time in the Star Wars universe. Katee Sackhoff herself has also played a major role in The Mandalorian TV show, with each subsequent appearance being bigger than the last. This has left many confused why she hasn’t been confirmed for the film, sparking speculation that the character may be left behind for more universe-spanning stories.
Katee Sackhoff Will Return As Bo-Katan
Speaking at a recent panel during Fan Expo Vancouver (via The Direct), Katee Sackhoff addressed her future as Bo-Katan. While the actress didn’t explicitly say that she would be making her return in The Mandalorian and Grogu, she did reveal that there’s no chance of her leaving the role as long as the character is still alive.
“Always! She’s not dead. She ain’t going anywhere,” Sackhoff remarked. “She can’t, because she’s based off Dave Filoni’s wife. So I have job security forever. Anne [Convery] would be so pissed.”
Of course, it’s almost certain that Katee Sackhoff WILL return in The Mandalorian and Grogu. The character has been central for the series for quite some time, so it’d be odd to just completely ignore her. Though beyond the movie, it’s likely that Bo-Katan will return to being an animation only character, especially as Disney charts a new course for the franchise.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to land in theaters May 22, 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the Star Wars universe!
