Kathleen Kennedy confirmed Harrison Ford is still involved in Indiana Jones 5.

In 2016, Walt Disney Studios announced that a fifth Indiana Jones film was scheduled to hit theaters in 2019 with Harrison Ford back as the famous archeologist. However, Indiana Jones 5 has since been pushed back to the summer of 2021 and has seen writers including David Koepp and Jonathan Kasdan come and go.

Furthermore, rumors have spread suggesting the fifth Indiana Jones film might be a reboot of the franchise with a younger actor taking over the titular role from Harrison Ford. During a red carpet interview with BBC at the BAFTA awards, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy offered an update on the status of Indiana Jones 5, stating that the project will be ready to go once they’ve gotten the script to a point they are satisfied with:

“We’re working away, getting the script where we want it to be and then we’ll be ready to go.”

Kathleen Kennedy, who was present to accept the BAFTA Fellowship award, also confirmed Indiana Jones 5 will be a continuation of the previous adventures and that Harrison Ford is excited to reprise his role:

“Oh, Harrison Ford will be involved. It’s not a reboot, it’s a continuation. [Harrison] can’t wait. He absolutely is [involved].”

Indiana Jones 5 is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on July 9, 2021.
