Kit Harington Shuts Down Possible ‘Game Of Thrones’ Spinoff Cameo

Game of Thrones Kit Harington

Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has crushed all hopes of his character Jon Snow appearing in a spin-off of the smash hit fantasy series.

In a new interview with BBC, Harington was asked if there was any interest in possibly returning to the world of Game of Thrones via one of the possible spin-offs in development at HBO:

“Would I want to go back and do more? Not on your life. If, like me, you go all the way back to the pilot of Game of Thrones, that’s almost 10 years of your life. That’s really unusual in an actor’s career. It was a huge, emotional upheaval leaving that family.”

The actor was even asked if he would even be open to a cameo, or possibly appearing as an ancestor of his Game of Thrones character to which he also said no.

Game of Thrones will of course return for its final season next year. The first spin-off from the premium cabler is not expected to debut until at least one year after the final season of Game of Thrones airs. Naomi Watts and Josh Whitehouse have been cast as leads in the untitled prequel series. Plot details remain under wraps, however, the series has been confirmed to take place thousands of years prior to the current series.

Jane Goldman has written the series pilot for the prequel. Goldman is serving as showrunner with Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin who is executive producing the series with Vince Gerardis and Daniel Zelman. The pilot is one of four projects HBO revealed to be in the works with Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island), Brian Helgeland (Legend), and Carly Wray (Mad Men, The Leftovers) previously announced to develop other potential spin-offs.
