The Green Lantern series is coming along smoothly! A new BTS photo shows off Aaron Pierre playing John Stewart in the first episode of Lanterns.
The production of Lanterns has been shockingly tight lipped. Despite the series having entered production months ago, only a handful of BTS photos have found their way onto the net, mostly focused around Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart. Currently, fans know very little about the series or what may be happening around the titular Green Lantern Corps.
Though as the series trucks in, it’s not shocking that a leak or two would be sprung eventually. The latest comes from Califf Guzman, who serves as the stunt double for Aaron Pierre on Lanterns. The photo shows that is, apparently, a shot of John Stewart from the first episode of the series. While not much can be gleamed from this, it may show fans their first look at the character’s life before becoming a Green Lantern.

How Lanterns Will Adapt John Stewart
Given the layout of the photo, it seems as though Aaron Pierre will be entering a shut down business that has private offices for business to be conducted in. With John Stewart being a veteran, it’s entirely possible that this location is a closed down (or soon opening) Veterans Affairs office, with the Green Lantern potentially traveling to it to try to get help for his fight with something like PTSD.
The fact that the office is closed will likely be important to the setting of Lanterns. The series seems to be taking major inspiration from small town America, which often has some of their most vital resources shut down due to a lack of funding. With Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart being a veteran, he would be the perfect surrogate through which the audience could learn about these issues, while not taking away from the focus on the Green Lantern Corps.
