Black Panther star Letitia Wright says an Avengers movie led by the women of the Marvel Cinematic Universe will happen soon and producer Victoria Alonso is spearheading it.
There’s been plenty of talk over the years about giving the women of the MCU their own A-Force inspired movie, but Letitia Wright recently opened up about the project to Yahoo! and revealed Marvel producer Victoria Alonso is pushing it forward. Fans briefly saw the likes of Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Gamora and the Wasp team up in a poorly executed scene in Avengers: Endgame, which was rightfully criticized by many as being forced into the film. But it seems like a movie starring those heroes will arrive sooner rather than later.
“I don’t think we have to fight for it. Victoria Alonso is very strong about spearheading it, alongside Kevin [Feige]. It’s only a matter of time before they do it.”
The star went on to explain that it’s been a dream of hers to play a role model for women across the world – and she feels grateful that her role as Shuri has resonated with fans across the world. It’ll be interesting to see what Marvel Studios has planned for Letitia Wright’s role in the MCU in the future, but given how much audiences loved Shuri, it seems likely that she’ll be a key hero going forward.
“It was always a dream of mine to play someone that can be impactful not only for Black women but also just for women around the world and young people, too. To be able to have a combination of people and audience members who are so thrilled and appreciative of Shuri is a good feeling. I feel like I contributed something positive in the world.”
