A source close to Slashfilm has confirmed a secret Deadpool 2 teaser has been attached to run before Logan when it hits theaters this weekend.
It was reported last year that Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds had shot a cameo appearance for Logan but the rumors were denied by Reynolds as well as Logan director James Mangold and star Hugh Jackman.
After 20th Century Fox had updated the runtime for Logan clocking in at three minutes longer than the version that was screened for critics, Mangold then squashed the rumors that a post-credit scene had been added to the film.
But now the cat is out of the bag. Heroic Hollywood’s Umberto Gonzalez actually broke the news first last week that the rumored footage Reynolds had shot for the upcoming film was actually a promo for the highly anticipated Deadpool sequel which would feature an appearance by Marvel Comics’, Stan Lee. Reynolds shot the promo under the direction of Deadpool 2 helmer David Leitch.
If you want to remain spoiler-free before seeing the promo when it drops before Logan this weekend then this is your last chance. What follows is a brief description of the teaser for Deadpool 2.
Slashfilm has described the teaser as more of a scene than an actual promo. The scene begins with 2 men in a scuffle in an alley after an attempted mugging. Reynolds walks by the alley as Wade Wilson not suited up as Deadpool, but in a hoodie to conceal his hideous scarred face as he listens to the song from the opening credits of Deadpool, “Call Me Angel”. Wilson takes notice of the mugging and says “Not in my city!”.
Wilson makes his way over to a phone booth accompanied by a Superman like John Williams theme but rather than quickly changing and emerging as the heroic Deadpool, Wilson struggles to get into his Deadpool suit until a gunshot is heard from the alley.
Deadpool finally emerges in slow motion but he’s too late. All that is left in the alley is a single dead man. The description is a bit murky from here on out but what transpires is the merc running his mouth while he goes through the dead man’s groceries. We’re then treated to a cameo from Stan Lee who sees Deadpool coming out of the alley with his face exposed. Lee says to him “Hey, aren’t you Ryan Gosling?”
How the teaser then ends isn’t clear, however, Slashfilm reports it will close with the tag:
“Deadpool…coming…not soon enough.”
So what do you guys think? Do you like how this sounds as a teaser for Deadpool 2? However it goes, we’ll all find out this weekend.
