The Rings of Power has been taking some massive swings ahead of season 2 to try to regain the trust of The Lord of the Rings fans. The first came when the trailer revealed fans will finally be able to witness the rise of Sauron. Now, a new set of images released by Vanity Fair from the show confirm that the iconic Tom Bombadil will be appearing in the series.
Tom Bombadil will be portrayed by Rory Kinnear in The Rings of Power season 2. This appearance marks the first time the character has ever been seen in live-action, ignoring his role in The Lord of The Rings Trading Card Game. While not many more details have been released about his role in the series, fans are already excited to see their favorite character in the flesh!

The character first made his debut prior to The Rings of Power in his own poem titled The Adventures of Tom Bombadil.
Tom Bombadil is perhaps most well known for being cut from Percy Jackson’s adaptation of The Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of The Ring. This is because Jackson saw the character as superfluous to the story. The Rings of Power season 2 seems to be a redemption of the character, in a sense. It cements his role in the history of The Lord of the Rings series for fans who have never read the novels, even if it may not be exactly true to how his travels were originally portrayed.
