Does Attack on Titan have its perfect Levi Ackerman? Manny Jacinto reveals his desire to bring the iconic anime to life on the silver screen.
Ever since he took on the role of Qimir in The Acolyte, Manny Jacinto has quickly become one of the internet’s nerdy darlings. Fancasts revolving around the actor have popped up everywhere, wanting him to play everyone from Marvel’s new Iron Fist Lin Lei to DC’s Nightwing. And with him continuing to land action roles like in Top Gun: Maverick, it likely won’t be long until the actor strikes franchise gold once more.
However, it seems he already has a series in mind that he’d want to join next. During an appearance at last month’s Megacon in Orlando, the actor revealed that he’d love to join the cast of a live-action Attack On Titan film. Specifically, the character of Levi Ackerman seems to be the apple that has caught Manny Jacinto’s eye.
“That is my dream job — to play Levi Ackerman in live-action,” Jacinto told the audience during his Megacon panel.
Will There Be A Live-Action Attack On Titan Movie?
What may be surprising to many fans is that a live-action Attack on Titan movie might be closer to reality than they might think. Back in 2018, Warner Bros. Discovery secured the rights to bring the IP to the silver screen from the publisher Kodansha. The Flash director Andy Muschietti was also brought on to direct the project. However, there have been no updates on the movie in nearly seven years, meaning it’s most likely dead in the water.
This doesn’t mean a live-action Attack on Titan film could never happen, though. Warner Bros. Discovery is clearly hungry for a hit. The popularity of Attack on Titan, combined with the star power of actors like Manny Jacinto could be the recipe they’re looking for. However, given the gory nature of the source material and some controversial themes, they’d likely need to reign the budget in tight to make sure it comes out profitable.
