Did Marisa Tomei actually enjoy being in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? The Aunt May actress reveals her favorite part of filming Tom Holland’s recent Spider-Man trilogy.
Many fans were skeptical when Marisa Tomei was first cast as Aunt May in the MCU, especially given how young she was compared to prior actresses. Yet, she quickly captured the hearts of fans, becoming a beloved part of the Spider-Man trilogy. However, when asked what she enjoyed the most about playing the iconic Aunt May, Tomei admitted that her favorite part was seeing Tom Holland’s blossoming relationship with Zendaya.
“Watching Tom and Zendaya grow up and watching them fall in love,” Tomei explained during a recent appearance at Fan Expo Canada. “Seeing their phenomenal talent and being blown away from the get-go. They are incredible, incredible people.”
Those words are enough to warm the hearts of even the harshest critics of the MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy. While it’s a shame that Marisa Tomei’s time as Aunt May has come to an end, it’s good that she was able to enjoy her role even beyond what was seen on screen.
Marisa Tomei’s Impact On The MCU’s Future
Even though Marisa Tomei likely won’t be returning to the MCU anytime soon, that doesn’t mean her impact will only be limited to the last trilogy. Recent reports have suggested that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will continue to grapple with Aunt May’s death in the next film. This would coincide with the return of Zendaya’s return as MJ, suggesting the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home may have been less permanent than many may have hoped.
Though Marisa Tomei’s Aunt May won’t have any impact if the MCU doesn’t figure out a plan. It was expected that Tom Holland and Zendaya would film Spider-Man 4 sometime this fall. However, it seems plans for the film have shifted drastically, especially when it comes to the long-awaited showdown between the iconic webhead and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin.
