Is a new Hulk movie just a pipedream? Mark Ruffalo reveals if he’ll ever get a solo outing as the Green Goliath in the MCU.
Mark Ruffalo has been the MCU’s Hulk for nearly 15 years at this point. Since then, he’s been an integral part of dozens of movies, and become a fan-favorite casting in comic book history. However, despite how much Ruffalo has achieved during his time as the Jolly Green Goliath, there is still one notable omission from his record: a solo movie.
This is not for a lack of enthusiasm. Fans have been begging for the Hulk to get his own film since the MCU recast Edward Norton. Mark Ruffalo himself has also been a very vocal supporter of the idea in basically every interview he’s done. However, speaking on the subject once more, the actor points out that Marvel’s hands are essentially tied.
“I don’t know if you know the story of that, but it’s not really owned by Marvel,” Ruffalo told GQ in a recent interview. “It’s a Universal property. I don’t know if it’ll ever really come to be, honestly. We keep talking about it, what it would be.”
Will A Hulk Solo Movie Happen?
Of course, when it comes to the world of corporate power brokering, it’s easy to become discouraged about how slow and stubborn many of those involved are. However, it seems that Mark Ruffalo hasn’t completely given up hope on there being a solo movie for the Hulk in the MCU. And he certainly believes it’s something fans want.
“There’s been so many Hulk movies already, it’s like, does anyone really want another one? But I’d love one, and I do think the audiences would be into it if we could crack the nut of it.”
There’s long-been rumors of the MCU finding some way to work around their limitations when it comes to a Hulk movie, with projects like World War Hulk serving as ensemble films featuring all manner of Hulks. Though, with the Multiverse Saga drawing to a close, hopefully Mark Ruffalo manages to find that loophole sooner than later!
