Don Cheadle’s War Machine is set to return to the MCU on Disney Plus in both Secret Invasion and Armor Wars and now Marvel has confirmed the character will be donning some new suits of armor.
Rhodey was last seen suiting up as War Machine back in Avengers: Endgame, though he has since made a cameo appearance without his armor in the Disney Plus series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. He will next be seen alongside Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury in Secret Invasion before going on to lead Armor Wars.
New details shared by Marvel Studios confirm that Armor Wars will be living up to the promise of its title and will feature Rhodey in a range of new War Machine armor.
More War Machine On Disney Plus
An official press release from Marvel Studios following D23 Expo has confirmed that Don Cheadle’s Rhodey will be donning some new suits as War Machine when Armor Wars arrives on Disney Plus.
Throughout his time in the MCU, Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark created a vast array of Iron Man suits for himself. Rhodey has been seen in a few different variations of his War Machine armor as well, though it sounds like fans will get to see more variations on Rhodey’s suit in Armor Wars.
According to the press release from Marvel:
“Rhodey fans will see the character in a whole new light, and considering the title of the series, audiences can look forward to all-new suits for the hero, featuring different types of armor.”
It’s likely Don Cheadle’s Rhodey won’t be the only character suiting up either. The series’ official description teases Armor Wars will feature Tony Stark’s technology falling into the wrong hands, as in the comics that inspired the series, so fans should expect to see Rhodey going up against some armored adversaries.
Here’s the official synopsis for Don Cheadle’s last MCU appearance in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier:
Following the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience—in Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.”
Directed by Kari Skogland from scripts written by showrunner Malcolm Spellman and Derek Kolstad, the series stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker/U.S. Agent. Desmond Chiam, Miki Ishikawa, Noah Mills, and Carl Lumbly also appear.
