The X-Men are finally making their way to the MCU! Kevin Feige speaks on his excitement for the upcoming mutant saga being crafted by his team at Marvel Studios.
Ever since Marvel obtained the rights to the X-Men, fans have been waiting for the mutants to take their place back on the big screen. While they haven’t gotten their own film yet, the small tastes of the characters have sent fans rabid. When asked about this reaction, Kevin Feige admitted that he’s excited to see how the world reacts once the mutant saga finally hits theaters.
“It is extremely emotional, on a personal level, to have done a movie with Hugh after 25 years and me being a small part of that first X-Men movie,” Feige explained in a talk with DiscussingFilm. “And knowing that, thanks to various corporate studio entity deals, we now have 1000s of characters back- characters I hadn’t frankly thought about in many years because we didn’t have the rights to them.”
“Now that we do, it is great fun thinking [about who we can finally]. Our animated series X-Men ’97 was sort of the first taste of people reuniting with the X-Men mythology and that storyline. The response to that series just further excited us about how to bring the soap opera and the saga of the mutants to the MCU.”
It’s true that Kevin Feige got his start in the Marvel universe working on Fox’s X-Men films. Without them, the MCU as fans know it wouldn’t exist. While it’s a shame to see that corner of the multiverse come to an end, it’s clear the entire team at Marvel Studios has a strong love for the X-Men. It’s certain that the mutant saga will be coming sooner than some fans might expect.
Everything Fans Know About Marvel’s X-Men Reboot

Namely, that the team will be mostly familiar faces, with insider DanielRPK revealing that the roster will be similar to that seen int X-Men ’97 due to the show’s success.
Kevin Feige is also close to hiring a writer for the X-Men. Scooper Jeff Sneider revealed that Marvel has two names in mind to write the MCU’s upcoming reboot.
