Is Daredevil: Born Again going to reinvent Matt Murdock? An executive producer teases a bold new direction for the upcoming Marvel series.
Fans have been keeping a close eye on Daredevil: Born Again. Following a creative reboot of the series, it’s still unclear exactly where Marvel is taking Matt Murdock and pals, be it a continuation of the Netflix show or a full reinvention. According to one of the show’s executive producers, Brad Winderbaum, it ended up a mix of both: a new direction of a beloved series.
“Daredevil is incredible. It’s similar in some ways to X-Men ’97, because it’s reviving something that the fans love, but it is taking it in a new direction,” Winderbaum explained on the Official Marvel Podcast. “These characters have matured. The universe is different than it was. Things have changed. Society’s changed.”
If Daredevil: Born Again is even a hair as good as X’Men ’97, fans are in for a treat when Matt Murdock finally swings onto the streets of Hell’s Kitchen. With most of the old cast finally being rehired by Marvel, it’s clear the series has shifted away from the hard reboot they seemed to be aiming for prior to the Hollywood strikes last year.
Matt Murdock’s New Direction In ‘Daredevil’
Daredevil: Born Again‘s producers aren’t the only ones going in a new direction. It seems Matt Murdock himself will be taking a whole new approach to his job. Marvel is no longer having him and Wilson Fisk barrel at each other on a mission of self-destruction, rather having them both be pieces in a much longer game.
“Matt and Wilson have changed, and their characters are gonna collide in ways we’ve never seen before,” Winderbaum continued. “It’s no longer enough to try and murder each other, there’s a whole game of politics at play.”
This lines up with what fans already know about Daredevil: Born Again thanks to prior Marvel projects. The biggest example is Echo, where Wilson Fisk was hinted at being a mayoral candidate. This means Matt Murdock can no longer attack him directly, leading to a much more complicated dance between the two in the upcoming Disney Plus reboot.
Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere in March 2025 on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
