Marvel Studios Confirmed For San Diego Comic-Con 2016

For whatever reason, Marvel Studios decided to skip San Diego Comic-Con last year, but it doesn’t sound like that’s going to be the case this year. The reveal was made by Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson, who tweeted out a picture of Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular character on a Comic-Con banner we saw earlier today.

Shortly after, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 writer and director James Gunn responded to his tweet with the following, which suggests that he will also be there along with the cast of the highly anticipated follow-up.

It’s safe to say that we’re probably going to see the second Doctor Strange trailer during their Hall H presentation this July. Fans attending the event will also likely get a first look at some footage from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which will wrap filming within the next two weeks. However, don’t expect to see anything from Thor: Ragnarok and Spider-Man: Homecoming as the two movies will both begin production soon.

As for other announcements, I wouldn’t be surprised if we finally get confirmation on who will be playing Captain Marvel in her standalone movie and Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 & 2. As of right now, the only frontrunner that we know of for the role is Academy Award winner Brie Larson, who also has the support of Captain America himself, Chris Evans.

What do you guys think? Are you looking forward to seeing what the studio will reveal during the event? Sound-off your thoughts on the news in the comment section below.

LOL, anyone who thinks Dr Strange is gonna bring the house down, really has some issues. Marvel hasn’t done that since the very first Avengers announcement.

Meanwhil, they have an entire Suicide Squad exhibit at the con.
