With Superman’s future in DC’s films up in the air, a stunning new concept design imagines Michael B. Jordan taking over from Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel.
Last year, it was announced that Michael B. Jordan was developing a Superman series for HBO Max, which would focus on Val-Zod – DC’s Superman of Earth-2, who took up the mantle from Kal-El after he was killed by the forces of Steppenwolf. While it is not clear whether this project is still going ahead following the Warner Bros. Discovery merger and subsequent shakeup of DC, Jordan would certainly be a worthy successor to Henry Cavill as DC’s iconic superhero.
Michael B. Jordan Is Superman
Rumors are currently circulating that DC is planning to move forward with new projects featuring Henry Cavill’s Superman. However, with Warner Bros. Discovery wanting to revitalize Superman in their upcoming DC projects, it’s possible that whether or not Cavill is getting back into the red cape, other actors such as Michael B. Jordan may be considered for other versions of the character.
The Black Panther star certainly looks the part, as shown in this new artwork from artist “apexform” on Instagram. Check out the design below:
The multiverse is winning big with audiences at the moment, following films such as Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Everything, Everywhere, All At Once – even next year’s The Flash is said to be testing incredibly well. Given this, along with Michael B. Jordan’s existing plans for a Superman series and Warner Bros.’ ongoing efforts to develop content for both theaters and HBO Max, it seems possible Henry Cavill could be the big screen’s Superman while Michael B. Jordan takes up the role in a streaming series.
Superman was last seen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Here is the synopsis:
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
Zack Snyder’s Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J.K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
Both versions of Justice League are available on HBO Max. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the future of Superman and the DCEU, and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
