Did Mike Colter change his mind about coming back to the MCU? The actor speaks on a possible return as Luke Cage on the small screen.
As one of the four face’s of Marvel’s Netflix era, Mike Colter holds a special place in many fan’s hearts as Luke Cage. With Charlie Cox officially making his debut in the MCU as Daredevil, the internet has begun to wonder if any of his fellow Defenders like Colter could also make their return. Especially since other supporting cast members such as Jon Bernthal as The Punisher have already been confirmed for the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again reboot.
However, Mike Colter himself hasn’t been the most enthusiastic as the prospect of making a return as Luke Cage. Back in May, the actor said Marvel isn’t at the top of his priority list, saying he’d only come to the MCU if it didn’t interfere with his role on the series Evil. As well as, of course, having one hell of a script for him to bite into.
Mike Colter Gives Fans Hope For Luke Cage Return
Yet it seems Mike Colter is much more open to the idea of bringing Luke Cage to the MCU than that quote may have seemed. When speaking at a recent red carpet event, Colter was asked if he’d be open to return as the iconic Marvel hero following Charlie Cox’s Daredevil: Born Again. While Colter admitted he’s still not putting off jobs for Luke Cage, it’s a world he’d love to come back to.
“I would love to explore it, if they found some story, some way, somewhere, to take it,” Colter explained to ComicBook.com “And I’m happy that Charlie Cox and those are getting it rebooted, but I don’t have any [idea if Luke Cage is getting rebooted]. I’m not holding anything back.”
Of course, getting too optimisitc about quotes from actors is a rake Marvel fans have walked into many, many times before. Yet for once, it seems more likely than ever that Mike Colter could return as Luke Cage, alongside the rest of his Netflix heroes. With season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again just on the horizon from production, the answer may also come sooner than expected.
