Luke Cage star Mike Colter has confirmed he would be open to returning to the role in a future MCU project.
Luke Cage was originally released on Netflix, alongside other pre-Disney Plus Marvel series like Daredevil and Jessica Jones. It ran for two seasons, before Netflix canceled all the Marvel series being released on the streaming platform. As well as appearing as the lead in his own series, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage featured in crossover series The Defenders and the first and third seasons of Jessica Jones.
Power Man On Disney Plus
With Daredevil now getting a Disney Plus revival, fans may be wondering whether any other Netflix heroes could be set to return to the MCU on the streaming platform. Mike Colter has revealed he would certainly be open to the opportunity.
While appearing on The Rich Eisen Show recently, Mike Colter was asked whether he would be open to returning to the role of Luke Cage. The actor revealed he would be open to a return, but hasn’t heard anything from Marvel about the possibility:
“There is [a possibility], I guess, I just don’t know how likely it is, and I don’t have anything tangible to offer. People always ask me, ‘Is it possible?’ and I’m like, ‘Anything’s possible.’ And they live on rumors and I go, ‘I mean, you know as much as I know.’ People read those articles, that’s the exact same amount of information that I have.
“…I’d be open to it, yeah. I mean I had a great time, and I’ve had a nice break from that much action, in terms of physical action, in terms of filming a superhero show. So I’d be up for it again, but when I left I was pretty tired physically. It’s like when you play a sport you need a little off-season. So it was fun to take a break, you know?”
Mike Colter is currently appearing in supernatural drama Evil on Paramount+, where he plays priest-in-training David Acosta. With his Defenders co-star Charlie Cox gearing up to return to Marvel as Daredevil though, it may only be a matter of time until Colter returns to the role of Luke Cage.
Here is the synopsis for the second season of Marvel’s Luke Cage:
After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.
As well as Reg E. Cathey, Luke Cage stars Mike Colter as the titular hero, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Theo Rossi as Hernan Alvarez/Shades, Gabrielle Dennis as Tilda Johnson, Mustafa Shakir as John McIver/Bushmaster, and Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard/Black Mariah.
