The working title for Disney Plus’s Ms. Marvel series is the perfect nod towards Kamala Khan’s hometown.

One of the most anticipated series coming out of Disney Plus has to be the Ms. Marvel series focusing on Kamala Khan. A Pakistani-American teenager from Jersey City, the character is one of the most accessible and beloved heroines to come out of Marvel in the last decade. Originally debuting in 2013, Khan has been a bastion of diversity in the comic book world. Her popularity has shown no signs of stopping and she’ll be a main character on Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s Avengers game, which is slated to hit current generation consoles in September.

Once she’s done conquering the video game world, she’ll make her live-action debut in a Disney Plus series. While the role of Kamala Khan hasn’t been cast as of yet, the studio has reportedly begun searching for an actress to bring her to life. With production set to gear up on the series, the working title of the Marvel project has been revealed. Obtained by Production Weekly, the working title for the Disney Plus series is “Jersey”, a nod towards the character’s hometown of Jersey City.

Seeing as COVID-19 has radically changed the development of numerous projects, it’s uncertain when the show will actually begin filming, though the report cited above does suggest that cameras could begin rolling at the end of the summer. With a working title already in tow, perhaps Ms. Marvel is on her way sooner than we expected.
