Natalie Portman revealed that Jane Foster will get different powers than Chris Hemsworth’s hero in Thor: Love and Thunder.
Now that both Christian Bale and Natalie Portman have landed in Australia to start filming Thor: Love and Thunder, work is set to begin very soon on the sequel, with Chris Hemsworth recently mentioning that he starts shooting in January. And although the film from Taika Waititi will take its cues from the Mighty Thor series, Portman revealed Jane Foster will get some new powers to those we’ve previously seen from Hemsworth’s God of Thunder.
Natalie Portman recently appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show to talk about Thor: Love and Thunder and was asked by the host if Jane Foster will have new powers as Lady Thor. While the actress didn’t reveal any specific new powers, she was keen to point out that she’s her own hero, rather than just a “Lady” version of Odinson. The star had previously revealed the sequel will be “silly and funny,” but it sounds like it’ll also do its best to provide better representation in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Portman explained that not only is it important for girls to have superheroes of their own to look up to, but it’s great for boys to look up and see women in these roles too.
“So, she does have powers. It’s not exactly the same as Thor, it’s her own version of it, and she’s called the Mighty Thor.”
