The first images of the Marvel Legends series Mjolnir from Thor: Love and Thunder have been unveiled, giving fans their best look yet at the hammer Natalie Portman’s Mighty Thor will wield.
When Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters this July, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Odinson will once again be joined by Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster, but this time Jane is taking up the thunder god’s old hammer to become the Mighty Thor herself. While Thor wielded a version of Mjolnir taken from his past in Avengers: Endgame, the last time present-day Mjolnir was seen was when it was destroyed by Cate Blanchett’s Hela in Thor: Ragnarok.
Given Mjolnir’s recent demise and with the Endgame version having been returned to its proper place in time, the magical hammer will need to be reassembled before Natalie Portman can be seen picking it up in Love and Thunder to become Marvel’s new Thor. Previously released images offered a look at Mighty Thor holding Mjolnir, with cracks from its destruction still visible on the hammer’s surface. Now, images revealed on Twitter have offered a more detailed look at the hammer via images of its Marvel Legends replica. Check it out below:
The hammer’s reconstructed appearance is plain to see and the replica even includes the glow of lightning shining through Mjolnir’s damaged head, something that has been teased in promotional artwork for Love and Thunder. Exactly how Mjolnir is put back together for Natalie Portman’s Thor to make use of is something audiences will have to wait to see when the movie is released.
Directed by Taika Waititi from a script he co-wrote with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Christian Bale, Jaimie Alexander, Chris Pratt, Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, and Jeff Goldblum. Matt Damon, Sam Neill, Luke Hemsworth, Melissa McCarthy, Ben Falcone, and Russell Crowe are also on board.
Thor: Love and Thunder is set to be released on July 8, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the Thor sequel leading up to its release, and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
