Natalie Portman Opens Up About Getting Jacked For ‘Thor: Love And Thunder’

Back and stronger than ever!

Natalie Portman Mighty Thor: Love and Thunder Jane Foster

Natalie Portman talked about training for her return as Jane Foster in Thor: Love and Thunder.

When Natalie Portman returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Jane Foster in Thor: Love and Thunder, she will look slightly different. This is because Portman’s Jane will wield Mjölnir in the upcoming Thor film, following a popular Jason Aaron storyline in the comics.

Portman Is Worthy

When set photos from Thor: Love and Thunder first started to surface with Natalie Portman, fans quickly noticed that she was definitely hitting the gym for her return to the MCU. While speaking with Total Film, Portman opened up about becoming Mighty Thor and the training it entailed:

“It’s exciting to get to be a superhero. And there’s no guidebook that comes along and tells you how to do it. I trained for a long time before and during, and I was doing the whole protein shakes [thing]. It really helped prepare me for the level of action that we ended up doing. We had incredible stunt doubles who did the really hard stuff, but there’s still a great deal of running and jumping and swords and hammer-fighting. It was definitely helpful to be strong. To have that weight of the cape all day, you want to have some upper-body strength.”

Here is the synopsis for Thor: Love and Thunder:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, and Russell Crowe.

Thor: Love and Thunder hits theaters on July 8, 2022. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming film, and subscribe to Hero Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
