Is Jane Foster coming back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Natalie Portman reveals her hopes to return as the Mighty Thor after Love and Thunder.
While Thor: Love and Thunder ended up being a controversial film, Marvel fans almost universally loved Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster turning into the Mighty Thor. This made it even more of a shame when the character passed on at the end of the film. Portman still has ambitions for the Goddess of Thunder, she’s just waiting for Marvel to make the call.
“Oh, I have no idea,” Portman told Total Film in a recent interview. “I mean, no one’s asked me to. So I don’t know. But sure, that was super fun.”
It would certainly be tricky trying to bring Natalie Portman back given how definitive Jane Foster’s end was in Thor: Love and Thunder. However, with the multiverse saga still in full swing, it wouldn’t be shocking for the Mighty Thor to appear in a project like Marvel’s Secret Wars.
Marvel’s Future For Thor After Love And Thunder
Luckily, Thor: Love and Thunder didn’t kill the franchise. All signs point to Marvel bringing the God of Thunder back around for one more ride. Given it’ll likely be Chris Hemsworth’s final outing as the hero, his passing in the film could lead to him reuniting with Jane Foster in the afterlife, even if it means Natalie Portman won’t return as the Mighty Thor!
It’s also possible Natalie Portman could return as Jane Foster in an animated project. What If…? could give her the chance to do a victory lap as the Mighty Thor without messing up the continuity of Marvel’s sacred timeline. Given most fans would prefer if Thor: Love and Thunder was entirely erased, that might not be the biggest issue!
