It looks like Neil Gaiman and David Goyer’s Sandman has found a home, as Netflix has officially picked up the series.
Neil Gaiman and David Goyer will serve as executive producers of the upcoming Netflix Sandman series. The actual show running duties will be headed up by Wonder Woman co-writer Allan Heinberg. Neil Gaiman, David Goyer, and Allan Heinberg will write the Netflix premiere.
This does not mark the first attempt by Neil Gaiman and David Goyer to bring The Sandman to live action. Originally The Sandman was set to be a feature-length film with The Dark Knight Rises star Joseph Gordon-Levitt attached to direct and star. The project sadly did not happen.
This is also not the first time Neil Gaiman and David Goyer have been involved in television ieither. Neil Gaiman was an executive producer on the American Gods Starz series and even took over as showrunner for its second season. In addition, Neil Gaiman was also the showrunner for Amazon’s Good Omens. David Goyer also has an extensive resume in television, having created the Blade television series. In addition, David Goyer was also the creator ofConstantine, Flashforward, and has written episodes of Krypton. It seems that Neil Gaiman and David Goyer are bringing their talents to Netflix.
Neil Gaiman’s and David Goyer’s upcoming Netflix Sandman series is, of course, based on Neil Gaiman’s comic series. The Sandman series focused on a character known as Morpheus and the various adventures he had across the realms as well as the people who were swept up in his wake. Neil Gaiman’s DC Vertigo series ran for 75 issues before concluding. But from the looks of things, Neil Gaiman and David Goyer are determined to bring it to live action.
