New Marvel Rumor Reveals MCU Plans For Nova Series

Looks like Sam Alexander is now a possibility

Marvel Studios Nova Project Richard Rider MCU

With a second season of Hawkeye looking like it is going forward at Marvel Studios, what is the other possible show that will make up the rest of the television slate?

According to the latest rumor from DanielRPK, “Marvel Studios has reportedly selected NOVA as a Disney+ series. Featuring a young lead, probably centered on Sam Alexander, and production is set to start next year.”

Adding fuel to the fire, in a recent interview with Screenrant, Marvel Studios Head of TV, Streaming, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum spoke about the project, “It’s new territory for us, developing more shows than we produce. Nova certainly is exciting to us, we’ve got some great ideas simmering. I think there’s a lot of potential there. I love Nova, also, from the comics, especially the Richard Rider era… we’ll see what happens. Like you said, there’s only so many release slots in the schedule, but we want to make sure everything we make is as good as it could possibly be. But I will say that is a particular project we are excited about and excited about developing.”

This isn’t the first fans have heard about a potential Nova project in the pipeline at Marvel Studios. Back in 2022, it was reported that Moon Knight writer Sabir Pirzada was attached to the project. More recently, back in January, it was revealed that Ryan Gosling was in talks to play Nova in the MCU.

It’s currently unclear if Marvel Studios’ Nova project would be a Disney Plus show or a movie. While previous rumors have suggested Richard Rider would take his adventures to the world of streaming, Disney’s recent moves to focus on “quality over quantity” in the MCU may suggest a big screen debut, especially with a high-profile actor like Ryan Gosling attached.

So which Nova are we getting? Richard Rider or Sam Alexander? With 2024 San Diego Comic Con coming soon, the Marvel Studios presentation will probably answer that question so stay tuned!
