Has Marvel finally found a writer for its X-Men reboot? A new report suggests the studio is down to two candidates for the job.
Ever since Marvel Studios finally got the rights back to the X-Men, fans have been waiting for any news about a reboot for the franchise. For a while, it seemed the project was in limbo until the Multiverse Saga wrapped up. However, the gears now seem to be moving, with a report suggesting there are only two writers left for consideration.
This report comes from Jeff Sneider, who reveals that Marvel is currently eyeing Rafe Judkins and Michael Lesslie to helm the reboot. Judkins had previously worked on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC, making him a great fit for the world of the X-Men and the MCU. Lesslie, on the other hand, has already had to juggle massive casts by writing The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
What We Know About Marvel’s X-Men Reboot
While the film doesn’t have a writer yet, some rumors have come out that paint a clear picture of what Marvel has in mind for its X-Men reboot. The team reportedly won’t feature Wolverine, likely giving the character a break following Hugh Jackman’s reprisal of the role in Deadpool and Wolverine. The studio also reportedly wants Dwayne Johnson to play Apocalypse in the project.
Marvel will also reportedly lean into the X-Men in the next saga of the MCU. A report suggests that the Avengers franchise will take a break following the mutant’s reboot, with their characters taking center stage for the foreseeable future. This means that the writer the studio chooses for the film will have a massive weight on their shoulders for the future of the franchise!
