Thunderbolts has a truly star-studded cast of Marvel Cinematic Universe veterans. A new rumor seems to reveal the role of Ayo Edebiri in the upcoming ensemble film.
2023 was a massive year for Ayo Edebiri. On top of joining the MCU, the actress had hit after hit with her roles in The Bear, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, and Bottoms. It seems her streak is continuing into the new year, with a new rumor from scooper CanWeGetSomeToast revealing that she’ll be playing an unexpected role in Thunderbolts.
According to the rumor, Ayo Edebiri will be playing the assistant to Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine in Thunderbolts. The character is named Erin and appears to be original to the MCU, being said to be “exceptional at her job, even surprising Val with how good she is at getting things done.”
It seems as though Thunderbolts is setting up Ayo Edebiri to be something akin to the Amanda Waller of the MCU, potentially usurping power from Valentina Allegra de Fontaine through their skills and cunning. After all, nobody is exceptional for nothing.
Who is attached to the Thunderbolts movie?
During Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con presentation in July, it was revealed that Jake Schreier would direct the upcoming Thunderbolts project. Eric Pearson, the writer for Black Widow, had previously written a draft of the script before being replaced by Lee Sung Jin.
Thunderbolts features a star-studded cast, including Julia Louis-Dreyfuss as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, Hannah John-Kamen as the Ghost, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes and Harrison Ford as Thunderbolt Ross. Ayo Edebir and Steven Yeun are also on board in undisclosed roles.
Thunderbolts is currently set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
