To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before star Noah Centineo is joining Dwayne Johnson in New Line and DC’s Black Adam movie.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Noah Centineo has signed on to play Atom Smasher in Black Adam, New Line and DC’s Shazam! spin-off starring Dwayne Johnson. Centineo is best known for his work in Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before movies and Sierra Burgess Is a Loser.
Created by Roy Thomas and Jerry Ordway, Atom Smasher made his debut in the pages of 1983’s All-Star Squadron #25. A member of Infinity, Inc. and the Justice Society of America, Atom Smasher can control his molecular structure to increase his size and strength. The character made his live-action debut in the second season of The Flash, with Adam “Edge” Copeland playing him.
Jaume Collet-Serra is directing Black Adam from a script written by Adam Sztykiel. The Dwayne Johnson movie is expected to introduce Hawkman, Doctor Fate and the Justice Society of America to the DC Extended Universe. New Line and DC’s Shazam! was originally going to feature Black Adam before the decision was made to give the character his own standalone film.
In the meantime, fans can still re-watch the original Shazam! film on all home media formats:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quick.
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.
Shazam! is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Black Adam is currently scheduled to hit theaters on December 22, 2021.
