‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Director Deborah Chow Teases Potential Season 2

Will Obi-Wan return?

Obi-Wan Kenobi saw the return of Ewan McGregor as the titular Jedi in a story showing the path of his character between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. While director Deborah Chow says that the show finished the story it wanted to tell, she teased there may be room for more.

While not all fans were happy with some of the story choices in Obi-Wan Kenobi, the six-episode romp held plenty of fan-favorite moments, including a long-awaited rematch between Ewan McGregor’s Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader. When asked about a potential season 2 during Deadline’s Crew Call podcast, director Deborah Chow said the story Lucasfilm planned is done, but that there’s plenty of time for new stories before A New Hope:

“This was conceived as a limited series; it is closed,” Chow confirmed before adding, “There’s 10 more years before New Hope, so never say never.”

A second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi could fix many of the issues fans had with the show, such as improving on the threat of Moses Ingram’s Reva Sevander, which many saw as a series weak-point. It could also include more flashbacks of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen’s characters during the Clone Wars era or even reunite Kenobi with Ahsoka, a character with her own show on the horizon starring Rosario Dawson. The possibilities are endless in a galaxy far, far away.

Obi-Wan Kenobi Is The Galaxy’s Only Hope

“During the reign of the Galactic Empire, former Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi embarks on a crucial mission,” reads the official synopsis for the Disney Plus series. “Kenobi must confront allies turned enemies and face the wrath of the Empire.”

Directed by Deborah Chow from Joby Harold’s scripts, the series stars Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. The series will also see the return of legendary Star Wars composer John Williams, who scored a theme.
