A new promotional banner for the upcoming Disney Plus Star Wars series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, teases the promised showdown between Ewan McGregor’s Jedi Master and Darth Vader.

As well as seeing Ewan McGregor reprise the role of the Jedi Master he last played in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Obi-Wan Kenobi will also welcome Hayden Christensen back to the world of Star Wars. Christensen last appeared as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in Revenge of the Sith, which featured one of the franchise’s most lauded lightsaber battles between him and McGregor’s Obi-Wan. When Christensen’s return was confirmed, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy promised “the rematch of the century.”

A new promotional banner for the series has surfaced online, offering a look at that rematch. The image features close-ups of both Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader’s iconic helmet. Between these close-up images, in a torrent of smoke and blue light, the former master and apprentice can be seen charging at one another with their lightsabers raised. Check out the new image below:

The rematch between Kenobi and Vader is one fans never thought they would see before details of Obi-Wan Kenobi emerged. Although it was never explicitly confirmed, many had always assumed that the pair’s showdown on Mustafar in Revenge of the Sith was their last battle until they met once again in A New Hope. Seeing the two iconic characters in an all-new battle will be a major event for Star Wars fans everywhere.

Here is the synopsis for the upcoming Star Wars series:

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, former Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi embarks on a crucial mission. Kenobi must confront allies turned enemies and face the wrath of the Empire.”
