Oscar Isaac has confirmed that reshoots for Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming epic science fiction film Dune will begin in mid-August.
Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming Dune film certainly has a lot riding on it. It is set to be the first in a two-part film that will adapt the classic 1965 Frank Herbert novel of the same name. An original prequel series based around the Bene Gesserit organization is also in development for Warner Bros HBO Max streaming service. However, the first film is far from complete.
As with most films, Dune will have to undergo a set of reshoots in order to fill the epic story out. While speaking to Deadline, Dune star Oscar Isaac confirmed that the reshoots were scheduled for mid-August in Budapest, Hungary:
“We’re going to do some additional shooting in mid August… they’re saying in Budapest in Hungary. I saw some things cut together and it just looks amazing. Denis [Villeneuve] is a real artist and it will be exciting to see it come together. It’s kind of wild that we’re doing some additional shooting a few months before it’s supposed to come out, but that happened with Star Wars as well.”

Directed by Denis Villeneuve from a script he co-wrote with Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts, Dune stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard, Charlotte Rampling, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem.
A synopsis of Dune reads as follows:
Set in the distant future, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides whose family accepts control of the desert planet Arrakis. As the only producer of a highly valuable resource, control of Arrakis is highly contested among the noble families. After Paul and his family are betrayed, the story explores themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship to nature as Paul leads a rebellion to restore his family’s control of Arrakis.
Dune is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2020. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming Dune film and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more great video content!
