Patty Jenkins revealed that she already has plans for the next Wonder Woman film with Gal Gadot.
Three years after the first record-breaking Wonder Woman film debuted in theaters, director Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot will return for the highly-anticipated sequel due to hit theaters next summer. At CCXP in Brazil, Patty Jenkins revealed that she had actually developed the story for Wonder Woman 1984 while working on the first film and has already formulated plans for the future of Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince.
During a roundtable interview with the press at CCXP, Patty Jenkins explained that she already has a third Wonder Woman film and an Amazon spin-off mapped out. However, Patty Jenkins also indicated that those plans for Wonder Woman’s next adventures could still change:
“We actually already know the whole story to [Wonder Woman 3] and then some because there is an Amazon [spinoff] movie as well and so we already have it all mapped out. It’s just a matter of will we change our minds and when.”
Patty Jenkins also noted that the wait between Wonder Woman 1984 and the third film will be longer than the time it took to release the first sequel. As Patty Jenkins explained, both she and Gal Gadot film essentially filmed the first two Wonder Woman films back-to-back and would prefer to take a break before jumping into the third chapter:
“I think what we don’t want to do is do it back to back. It’s been great doing these two movies back to back, but I think it’s important to give it a little rest in between. And I like doing other things in between. And Gal has other things to do. I never want to make decisions too far in advance. We have to see if we both feel like making the movie we think we want to make when the moment comes.”
