‘Pennyworth’: Batman Prequel Show Adds Ben Aldridge As Thomas Wayne

Deadline reports that Ben Aldridge has been cast as young Thomas Wayne in Epix’s Batman prequel series titled Pennyworth.

Earlier today, it was reported that Jack Bannon has been cast as young Alfred Pennyworth in Epix’s series centered around the DC Comics character before his time as Batman’s butler and surrogate father. Now, Reign star Ben Aldridge has been cast opposite Bannon as Thomas Wayne, whom fans will certainly know as the future father of the Caped Crusader’s alter-ego, Bruce Wayne.

Ben Aldridge’s incarnation of Thomas Wayne is described as a confident and extremely disciplined young aristocrat. Hailing from the East Coast of the United States, the young billionaire meets an unlikely business partner in Alfred Pennyworth.

Based on DC characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger, the 10-episode, hour-long drama series will follow Alfred Pennyworth as he forms a security company and goes to work with a young billionaire named Thomas Wayne in 1960s London after his time as British SAS soldier. Gotham showrunner Bruno Heller executive producer the series alongside Danny Cannon, with production set to begin on October 22 at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the United Kingdom. Cannon will also direct the pilot episode of the series.

Pennyworth will premiere on Epix on an undetermined date.
