Recent rumors that former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan is in talks to play Alfred Pennyworth opposite Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight in Matt Reeves’ The Batman are totally false, according to two insiders close to the project.

It’s been a few months since Robert Pattinson was cast as Bruce Wayne in The Batman and it’s been pretty quiet for the other roles in the film. Robert Pattinson’s casting was met with a warm welcome and hopefully the next casting will have the same outcome. Recently, Pierce Brosnan was rumored to have been cast as Alfred Pennyworth in Robert Pattinson’s The Batman and sadly this is not the case.

Pierce Brosnan hasn’t been involved in a big franchise since his run as James Bond. The actor took a long hiatus from franchises and has done a bunch of smaller roles for the past few years. That doesn’t look to change as Pierce Brosnan is not currently in talks for Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Now, this isn’t saying that he won’t be eyed for the role down the line, but as of this moment he’s not even in the picture.

Did you like the idea of Pierce Brosnan playing Alfred Pennyworth? Are you disappointed that the James Bond actor might not appear opposite Robert Pattinson after all? Sound off in the comments section below!

Plot details for The Batman are being kept under lock and key. Previous rumors once pointed to an earlier version of the script featuring Ben Affleck bookending the movie as his current Batman while it introduced a younger version of the iconic character, played by Robert Pattinson. But with Ben Affleck retired from the role, Robert Pattinson has officially replaced the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League star as the DC Extended Universe’s Bruce Wayne.

Last month, Greig Fraser joined The Batman as its new cinematographer. His previous work includes Rogue One: A Star Wars StoryLion, and Zero Dark Thirty. He also shot the 2010 remake of Let Me In, which was written and directed by Reeves.

Matt Reeves’ The Batman is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern CorpsBlack AdamCyborgSupergirlNew Gods, and Nightwing.
