Did Rachel Brosnahan do some investigations of her own? The Superman actress gives fans a peek into her process of preparing to play Lois Lane.
The role of Lois Lane may be one of the most challenging roles to play in the DC Universe, even moreso than Superman himself. The character’s core is a mix of grit, empathy, and bullheadedness that many adaptations simply fail to capture. But when it was announced that the Emmy winning across Rachel Brosnahan was set to take up the role in James Gunn’s upcoming reboot, many fans were convinced that yet another perfect adaptation of the character was on its way.
However, with how secretive the production on Superman has been, fans haven’t been able to get a glimpse into how Rachel Brosnahan prepared for such a coveted role. Luckily, ExtraTV was able to catch up with the actress to talk a bit more about her role in the DC Universe. While she didn’t spill too much about her role in the highly anticipated film, she did reveal that she tried to get the most authentic research possible when preparing to play Lois Lane.
“I spoke to a handful of really brilliant journalists to help me kind of get inside the mindset of folks who have both worked in a newsroom and on broadcast, which Lois obviously doesn’t but, still, helpful. They were fantastic, very generous with their time.”
Lois Lane’s Role In The DC Universe
Lois Lane has always been a central part of the DC Universe, and it seems as though Superman won’t be any different. The intrepid journalist isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty, especially when taking on corrupt officials like Lex Luhtor. And given what Rachel Brosnahan was seen doing in some of the set photos for the project, it’s clear that she isn’t shying away from the action inherent to a silver screen adaptation of such an iconic character.
For now, Rachel Brosnahan isn’t attached to any other projects in the DC Universe, with the franchise’s future likely dictated by how well Superman performs at the box office. Two projects many fans speculate may be on the horizon for Lois Lane include Creature Commandos, given how closely characters like Amanda Waller and Rick Flag Sr. seem to be tied to the Man of Steel, and The Authority, which many believe will be set up in the post-credits scene for the upcoming film.
Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
