Robert Downey Jr. is looking fresh as Doctor Doom! The actor is completely transformed in a new concept design for his character in Avengers: Doomsday.
There’s been a lot of buzz about Robert Downey Jr. being cast as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. Anyone who even remotely follows the news cycle knows that not all of that is positive. The only hope fans have is that the King of Latveria will finally get a comic-accurate design on the silver screen, complete with his iconic metal mask and gold trim.
Though that’s not the only design that Robert Downey Jr. could don as Doctor Doom. Way back when the actor was first confirmed to take on the mantle of the beloved villain in Avengers: Doomsday at San Diego Comic-Con, viral artist Boss Logic put out a concept design showing how the actor could look if his character took design cues from Doctor Doom’s time as the most irredeemable Iron Man.
Doctor Doom’s Role In Avengers: Doomsday
One of the biggest lingering questions that Avengers: Doomsday has to contend with is what Marvel was setting up with some of their mystical artifacts. Specifically, why weapons like the Ten Rings and Ms. Marvel’s bands are so similar, and so important to the franchise. This idea was emphasized in another concept design by Boss Logic, this time with a focus on Robert Downey Jr. taking on the mantle of God Doom in Avengers: Secret Wars.
At this time, almost no details have come out regarding how Robert Downey Jr. will play Doctor Doom in the MCU. While signs point to Avengers: Doomsday adapting some form of Evil Avengers team, and Secret Wars taking cues from the 2015 incarnation of the event, that’s all fans have to go on. Though until official details come out, these concept design pieces should be more than enough to hold fans over.
