Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is a mastermind when it comes to promoting his upcoming films as well as his HBO show Ballers. With his background as a wrestler always running his mouth off to incredible effect, it has worked in his favor in recent years as he further cemented himself as perhaps Hollywood’s biggest action star right now. And as he is currently shooting Fast 8 with director F. Gary Gray, his charisma is so much to take hold of in a promotional video from the set.
The Rock has been teasing his character Hobbs’ status in the film, and we see him in prison get-up. Obviously, many fans are ready to assume that this is setting up for an epic prison break scene – and in this new video The Rock has shared on Instagram, you can definitely see that this is shaping up to be “The prison scene to end all prison scenes.”
The thought of seeing what F. Gary Gray will bring to the action in this film is so intriguing, especially following James Wan’s terrific Furious 7. Gray also knows how to direct his actors to wonderful performances from his most recent film, Straight Outta Compton. I cannot wait to see what type of energy both Gray, The Rock, and the rest of the cast will bring to this movie. I have a feeling that the vibe is going to be so electric presented on the big screen.
Fast 8 steers into theaters on April 14, 2017. Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jason Statham, Kurt Russell, Eva Mendes, Lucas Black, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, and Dwayne Johnson will all return, with Charlize Theron, Scott Eastwood and Helen Mirren also joining the ensemble in this new installment, directed by F. Gary Gray.
