An old photo of Ron Perlman surprising a young cancer patient in full Hellboy makeup has resurfaced online.
While Hellboy is best known for being a brute and a tad bit rude, it turns out that Hellboy actor Ron Perlman is far from his cursing, cigar-smoking character as can be. A recently resurfaced photo Perlman surprising a young leukaemia patient in the costume has gone viral. The young boy’s wish was to not only meet Hellboy but also become him! The Make-A-Wish meeting between Perlman and the 6 year old boy, Zach, took place in 2012, 8 years ago.

The eight year old photo comes courtesy of special effects studio Spectral Motion, who had a helping hand in making Zach’s wish to meet Hellboy come true. A Facebook post from July 2012 reveals that Ron Perlman and Zach spent the day at Spectral Motion getting their makeup done. Perlman also ordered “Hellboy sized” burgers, shakes, and fries for Zach, his family, and the crew at Spectral Motion.
In a time where negativity seems to permeate the news, Zach’s wish being fulfilled by Ron Perlman and Spectral Motion is enough to put a smile on our face. In the years since the Make-A-Wish fulfilment, Perlman has officially retired from the role Hellboy and has passed on the torch to Stranger Things star David Harbour. Unfortunately, Harbour’s take on the character is currently dormant considering the 2019 reboot was a critical and commercial failure.
