Midnight Suns may be Marvel’s first true horror movie! A new rumor teases one of the genre’s best directors is being circled to helm the film.
A Midnight Suns project has clogged the rumor mills of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for years now, even though Disney has yet to confirm it in any capacity. Yet, it seems the studio may finally be close to putting it into production. According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, director Fede Álvarez is being eyed to take over the project.
Fede Álvarez has recently been in the news for his upcoming Alien: Romulus project. However, the Uruguayan director has become one of the most prolific horror icons of the past decade, making surprise hits like Don’t Breathe, as well as some flops with 2022’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Though even given his mixed record, his history of action-horror may make him the perfect candidate for a Midnight Suns film.
Who Are Marvel’s Midnight Suns?
The actual team of the Midnight Suns should be no stranger to Marvel fans. The supernatural team made its debut in the 90’s, where they languished in relative obscurity. That is until 2022, when the video game Marvel’s Midnight Suns burst onto the scene before promptly belly-flopping with horrific sales numbers.
Many speculate that the MCU’s version of Midnight Suns will consist of team staples like Blade (who’s getting his own film soon), Ghost Rider, and Moon Knight. However, the success of Werewolf By Night also suggests some obscure picks such as Elsa Bloodstone and Man-Thing may find their way onto the roster.
