Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently responded to Ryan Gosling revealing his hopes of playing Ghost Rider.
Ryan Gosling has most recently appeared in Netflix’s The Gray Man and is currently shooting Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, in which he plays Ken. But somewhere in the midst of that busy schedule, the mega-star took the time to reveal the Marvel superhero he would most like to play – Ghost Rider.
With a wealth of new Marvel Studios projects announced at San Diego Comic Con and many more Phase 6 projects yet to be named, could now be the perfect time for Marvel Studios to find a place for Ryan Gosling’s Ghost Rider?
Kevin Feige Wants Ryan Gosling In The MCU
Speaking to MTV News after Marvel Studios’ presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige acknowledged Ryan Gosling’s hopes of becoming Ghost Rider and said he would love to find a place for the actor in the MCU.
Marvel’s original Ghost Rider, Johnny Storm, was portrayed on the big screen by Nicolas Cage prior to the founding of the MCU. The Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider has appeared in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., potrayed by Gabriel Luna.
While Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s MCU canonicity has been debated, the series did tease its own version of Johnny Storm’s Ghost Rider, though his face was never shown. Could he in fact look a whole lot like Ryan Gosling? Here’s what Kevin Feige had to say on the matter:
“Hey, man, if Ryan wants to be Ghost Rider — what else? Who else?… Gosling’s unbelievable… Ryan’s amazing. I’d love to find a place for him in the MCU. He’s dressed up as Ken on Venice Beach and gets more press than a giant movie that’s coming out that weekend; it’s amazing.”
It sounds like there are no plans to introduce Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider or any other Marvel character just yet, but Kevin Feige seems eager to find a place for the actor in the MCU. With plans now drawn up that will see Marvel Studios thought to the end of Phase 6 with Avengers: Secret Wars, maybe there could be a Ghost Rider movie waiting for Ryan Gosling in Phase 7.
Here is the synopsis for Ryan Gosling’s recently released Netflix movie The Gray Man, in which he appears opposite MCU star Chris Evans:
“THE GRAY MAN is CIA operative Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling), aka, Sierra Six. Plucked from a federal penitentiary and recruited by his handler, Donald Fitzroy (Billy Bob Thornton), Gentry was once a highly-skilled, Agency-sanctioned merchant of death. But now the tables have turned and Six is the target, hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), a former cohort at the CIA, who will stop at nothing to take him out. Agent Dani Miranda (Ana de Armas) has his back. He’ll need it.”
Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo, the film stars Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Regé-Jean Page, Billy Bob Thornton, Jessica Henwick, Dhanush, Wagner Moura and Alfre Woodard.
The film is now streaming on Netflix. Be sure to continue following Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news on the future of the MCU, and be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more original video content.
