Sasheer Zamata isn’t done with Jennifer Kale just yet! The actress revealed her hopes to return to the MCU after the finale of Agatha All Along.
Agatha All Along was filled with surprises, not the least of which was the surprising body count racked up by the series, being one of the most brutal in the entire MCU when it comes to killing main characters. While many chocked this up to the dangers of The Witches’ Road, the show also revealed that the journey was entirely created by Wiccan in a similar way to how Wanda Maximoff created Westview in Wandavision.
One of the few surviving members of Agatha All Along‘s central coven is Jennifer Kale, played by Sasheer Zamata, who was spared by Wiccan during one of the final trials. This meant that her character never found out about one of the MCU’s biggest twists. When asked about how Kale would react to learning Wiccan himself manifested The Witches’ Road, Zamata admitted that her character would be pissed, but would likely find the whole endeavor worth it in the end.
“Gosh, I know!” Zamata remarked to Collider when asked about Jennifer Kale’s reaction to the twist. “She just leaves. She just leaves the Road, and she’s like, ‘I’m out of here.’ I think she would be furious if she found out that Teen, of all people, put everybody through hell. Like, we didn’t have to do that?”
“But maybe she would find some sort of solace in it because she did get what she wanted. She did do the Road to get her power back, and then she got it back, so in a way, it kind of was worth it. She did exactly what you’re supposed to do when you do the Road.”
“No one else has done the Road because the Road actually doesn’t exist — or at least the Road that we see we saw. But yeah, I think she’d be pissed but ultimately would probably find it worth it to get her power back.”
Will Jennifer Kale Return In The MCU?
Of course, Sasheer Zamata has more hopes for her character beyond Wiccan’s twist in Agatha All Along. She was also asked if she had any ideas about where Jennifer Kale’s story could take her if she ever does return to the MCU. While Zamata doesn’t have any strong ideas, she does hope to dig further into the character’s past, as well as forge a new future, in any potential follow-up.
“I don’t know. She can go anywhere!” Zamata explained. “I would love to see her go anywhere. I’d love to see more of her backstory in the past. I would love to see her future. Is she gonna find a new coven — a new team of people to work with? Is she gonna rededicate her life to healing people?”
“I would love to see where we go after this — it was left so open-ended. I love playing this character so, so much, and I think people really love seeing the arc and seeing her actually get what she came for. I would love for her to see her actually use the power that she regained.”
Despite not being the most well-traveled comic book character, Jennifer Kale certainly has plenty of lore for Marvel to dig into if she ever makes her return to the MCU. The witch has crossed paths with Man-Thing, helped the X-Force, and is even the cousin of two Ghost Riders: Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketch. It’s certainly a deep history, one fans of Agatha All Along are just excited to explore as Sasheer Zamata.
