Sebastian Stan is set to make his grand return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the upcoming movie Thunderbolts. It seems the actor has missed Bucky Barnes just as much as fans have.
Bucky Barnes has always been a fan-favorite in the MCU, even if he’s never had a starring role in a project. However, it seems Sebastian Stan is finally set to take his starring role with the Thunderbolts, a team full of super soldier anti-heroes. When asked how he felt about his return with this project, Stan revealed how much he missed the world of spandex and tights.
“I’m excited. I’m going to go back basically in a month or so. I’ve missed it. It’s a great cast,” Stan explained during a recent interview with Variety. “The batting average is so high that it’s difficult to always land everything right away. It’s always been a great experience. With this one in particular, I think there’s a lot of good things.”
Sebastian Stan isn’t the only Thunderbolts cast member excited to make his return. Wyatt Russell has also expressed the impressive depth he sees in the upcoming film. The project will also serve as a reunion between his character of U.S. Agent with Bucky Barnes. Here’s to hoping the film bucks the trend of mediocre MCU films, bringing something as different to the genre as they’ve been hyping it up to be.
Who is attached to the Thunderbolts movie?
During Marvel’s San Diego Comic-Con presentation in July, it was revealed that Jake Schreier would direct the upcoming Thunderbolts project. Eric Pearson, the writer for Black Widow, had previously written a draft of the script before being replaced by Lee Sung Jin.
Thunderbolts features a star-studded cast, including Julia Louis-Dreyfuss as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as John Walker, Hannah John-Kamen as the Ghost, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes and Harrison Ford as Thunderbolt Ross. Ayo Edebir and Steven Yeun are also on board in undisclosed roles.
Thunderbolts is currently set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
