The next Shazam! trailer is on its way but maybe not as soon as some fans were expecting.
Warners Bros. and DC made their panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con pretty special for fans. Not only did they release the first trailer for Aquaman, which earned massive praise from excited fans, but they also dropped the first trailer for next year’s Shazam!, starring Zachary Levi as the titular DC hero.
Levi recently teased fans about the arrival of the next trailer “in the new year”. Fans were hoping that this would mean that on New Year’s Day, there would be a fresh new Shazam! trailer to get hyped about. Director David F. Sandberg clarified in a Twitter post that although fans won’t see the trailer immediately in the new year, it is on its way and it’ll release early in 2019. Check out Sandberg’s full statement in the post below.
It’s not on New Year’s Eve, it’s “in the new year”. It’s early in the new year but not early enough to do the countdown and then watch the trailer. But I hope your birthday is great in other ways 🎂 https://t.co/zxPLYwq1GW

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Shazam! will be released in theaters on April 5, 2019.
