Following the controversial reveal that spoiled a surprise Justice League cameo ahead of the release of Shazam! Fury of the Gods, DC Universe fans wondered if Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman would play a role in the film. New behind-the-scenes photos now show off model Taylor Cahill as the film’s “Fake Wonder Woman”.
Fans were spoiled on the fact that Gal Gadot would be in Shazam! Fury of the Gods ahead of the film’s release, though it was unclear what would she would play. While Gadot does appear in the the third act, Shazam! director David F. Sandberg took the opportunity to mess with fans and poke fun at the headless Superman cameo in the first film by having a similar joke in the sequel:
“[Wonder Woman] was always supposed to be in [Shazam! Fury of the Gods], but I didn’t believe it was going to happen because of what happened on the first movie where we had to do a headless Superman cameo. I thought that was going to happen here, too,” Sandberg tells The Hollywood Reporter. “But then it actually did happen, which was great, because then we could poke fun at the headless cameo of the first movie, with the Wizard [Djimon Hounsou] dream sequence. But we never could have done that if we didn’t actually have Gal at the end because people would’ve been furious.”
Taylor Cahill was the body double for Wonder Woman while the Shazam! scene. Following the film’s release, Cavill took to Instagram to thank DC and the crew for allowing her to have this opportunity. The post can be seen below:
