‘She-Hulk’ Marks The Second Time Intelligencia Has Been Teased In the MCU

Intelligencia has been lurking in the MCU's shadows for a while.

Episode 6 of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law dropped a reference to the Marvel supervillain team Intelligencia, but it is not the first time the sinister group has been mentioned in the MCU.

It looks like Marvel Studios is gearing up to introduce Intelligencia, a collective made up of Earth’s most devious evil geniuses, in their latest Disney Plus series She-Hulk. In the comics, the group’s membership has included MODOK, the Leader and Ulysses Klaue.

Both MODOK and the Leader are due to make their MCU debuts soon, but Ulysses Klaue has already appeared on screen and his Intelligencia membership was subtly confirmed.

Ulysses Klaue & Intelligencia

Andy Serkis’ Ulysses Klaue first appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron and it was during this movie that the MCU’s first mention of Intelligencia was made, seven years before the group’s name would crop up again in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

While tracking down Ultron, the Avengers come across their file on Ulysses Klaue. The document lists Klaue’s affiliation as “Former Member Of The Intelligencia.” While She-Hulk has reimagined Intelligencia as a forum for misogynistic trolls, it looks like the organization had more sinister beginnings in the MCU.

Given the group’s comic book history, as well as Ulysses Klaue’s history with them in the MCU, it is likely that there is more to She-Hulk‘s Intelligencia website than meets the eye. With a mysterious user of the site, going by the name “HulkKing,” coming after She-Hulk’s blood, it appears the Intelligencia website is a platform for something far more threatening than comments from trolls.

Tim Blake Nelson’s the Leader, who has historically been an enemy of the Hulk, is set to return to the MCU – taking on the villainous moniker of the Leader for the first time – in 2024’s Captain America: New World Order. As a member of Intelligencia in the comics, could the villain be set to appear in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law first?
