Solo: A Star Wars Story co-writer Jon Kasdan cast doubt on the chances of seeing a sequel to the standalone film.
In May 2018, Disney and Lucasfilm continued the standalone Star Wars film series with the release of Solo. Although it set up the possibility of further adventures with Alden Ehrenreich’s young Han Solo, the film’s poor performance at the box office seemingly killed any chances of seeing a sequel.
Of course, Solo received generally favorable reviews and has its fair share of supporters who would love to see a sequel to the Star Wars story. However, co-writer Jon Kasdan recently revealed that he doesn’t believe anyone is pursuing a Solo sequel at this time and that such a project would a “tough sell”:
“Don’t think anyone’s pursuing a Solo sequel at the moment @KenobiJj. I think a feature, at this point, would be a tough sell & the D+ Star Wars slate is really…pretty packed, all shows I’m lookin forward to. My work on Indy is long over but I’m excited there’s forward movement!”
