The canceled Sinister Six film is largely considered a footnote in the long history of Sony’s failures in handling the Spider-Man IP. However, new details about the film reveal a wild Spider-Man moment from the script.
For those unaware, Sony planned to release a Sinister Six project following The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which was ultimately canceled due to the film’s failure. While many assumed it would be a fairly standard Spider-Man project, it was apparently anything but, with the first draft of the script by Drew Goddard featuring Spider-Man riding a T-Rex while in the Savage Land.
“By the end of 2014, [Drew Goddard] had a draft that took Spider-Man and his villains to the Savage Land,” the authors of MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios wrote. “…Where Spider-Man would ride a T-Rex.”
It seems as though Sony planned for Spider-Man to team up with the Sinister Six in the canceled film, though how the group ended up in the Savage Land is anyone’s guess. However, the book goes on to say it had to do with a lesser-known villain called Gog, which Doctor Octopus would try to free from a parallel dimension to recruit into a different, even more Sinister Six. With a plot like that, perhaps it was for the best the film got canceled.

What does the future hold for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker? The success of Spider-Man: No Way Home has opened up a world of possibilities for the fan-favorite Marvel character. The movie ends with Peter erasing himself from the memories of his loved ones in order to protect them from his enemies. This sets up an interesting dynamic for future Spider-Man movies, as Peter will have to navigate a world in which he is not known as Spider-Man.
Rumor has it that Tom Holland has signed on for multiple Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances after Spider-Man: No Way Home. The future of the Spider-Man series is currently unclear, but it is likely that Marvel will continue to explore the multiverse concept that was introduced in No Way Home.
