Sony Reveals ‘Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic’ Remake Trailer

The legend returns!

Star Wars Knights Of The Old Republic PlayStation 5 Sony

Sony has revealed a new trailer for a remake of the classic game, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for the PlayStation 5.

Since the Disney acquisition of LucasFilms, the number of videogames developed for the Star Wars franchise has drastically shrunk. This was in part due to giving EA Games an exclusive license to develop games for the property resulting in Star Wars: Battlefront and Star Wars: Battlefront 2. Neither of these games were well received by fans or critics and while some more recent efforts like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars: Squadrons have had better reception other game publishers are being allowed to take a crack at the series.

This year alone, it was announced that Fallout and Elder Scrolls developers Bethesda Studios was developing an RPG for the franchise. In addition, Ubisoft was also being allowed to make an open-world video game based on the property. As it turns out, these weren’t the only games the people at LucasFilm were cooking up.

During Playstation Showcase 2021, Sony revealed a number of upcoming games which included Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Wolverine. Also announced was a remake of Knights of the Old Republic for the PlayStation 5. You can see the full teaser for the game below:

Originally released back in 2003, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is widely considered to be the best Star Wars game ever made. Taking place 4000 years before the events of the Original Trilogy, the game focused on a new Jedi as he battles a faction of the Jedi who were turned to the Dark Side and attempted to take over the Republic. The game spawned one direct sequel and an MMORPG follow-up but never quite managed to become a fully realized video game franchise. How the upcoming remake will change the original game remains to be seen.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake currently does not have a release date but will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive for Sony. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the game and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
